Capital One Venture X Card

Around the start of August, after our trip to Italy, we considered taking a year of travel. For a few months, it was just a thought and a dream. After watching endless videos of Kara and Nate and talking with Kevin (Brandon’s brother who was traveling the world for six months), the thoughts and dreams started to take form.

We would need to start raking up some travel points to accomplish our goal. One card with the highest praise for travelers is the Capital One Venture X. On November 1, 2022, I did it! I applied and got Venture X.

The Venture X was the first card I opened outside the Chase Sapphire Preferred and the Chase Freedom Card.

It took me a while to apply for the card because I was waiting for my last name to change, and to save the headache of going through another item I would need to change, I just waited until I was officially a Morris.

When I got the card, it had a 75,000 welcome bonus after spending $4,000 in the first three months. We were finishing our floors, so meeting the spending requirement was relatively easy.

Pro tip: whenever you are getting major house projects done, ask if they can take credit cards. They typically always do, but they don’t offer it as a way of purchase.

We had to pay a service fee for using the card but getting the points and covering the spending limit for the welcome bonus outweighed the negatives.

I enjoy this card because of all the benefits that come with it – Priority Pass Lounge access, $300 travel credit, TSA precheck/global entry credit, and many more!

I was nervous about getting more credit cards, but after much research and looking through many resources, I feel good about getting new cards. We always pay off all our balances on any credit card and have no debt besides our student loans and mortgage.

We always treat our credit cards like cash and have never paid interest on a credit card.
