On our 28-hour journey to the Grand Tetons, we decided that if we were to stop and get a hotel, we would use the annual $50 hotel credit we receive with our Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit Card.
This credit is the most straightforward credit to use ever!!
Here is a little background information on the Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit Card. The card has a $95 annual fee, but this card has excellent travel benefits that can offset the cost. Some other benefits include elevated point earnings on travel, dining, and grocery services.
The card also comes with travel protection and no foreign transaction fees.
The benefit I want to discuss today is the $50 statement credits for each account anniversary year for hotel stays purchased through Chase Ultimate Rewards.
A statement credit will automatically be applied to your account when you use your card for hotel accommodation purchases made through the Ultimate Rewards program, up to a maximum annual accumulation of $50.
Annual means the year beginning with your account open date through the first statement date after your account anniversary and the 12 monthly billing cycles each year.
So, annually, the first $50 in Ultimate Rewards hotel purchases will not earn rewards points, but it will save you $50 on your first hotel!
Here is a step-by-step review of what we did to use our credit.
First, we logged on to Chase Ultimate Rewards and visited the hotel page.
We selected our destination of Paducah, KY, for our one-night stay on May 25.
We looked at different rooms and ultimately selected the Pear Tree Inn. We always double-check the Chase reviews with a Google search before we book anything. We have had some interesting hotel stays, to say the least.
Then we hit reserve.
Bada bing bada boom. Easy peasy, lemon squeeze.
Chase makes this credit very easy to use. You must book the hotel using your Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit card through the Chase travel portal.
It took about five days for our credit to show up on our statement, making our $116.70 hotel room $66.70, and honestly, this hotel was lovely and included breakfast!
We love our Chase Sapphire Preferred Cards, and it is an excellent card if you want to start dipping your toes into the travel hacking game.
