World of Hyatt Credit Card

While preparing for our year of travel, we are trying to generate as many points and miles as possible to fund our trip.

I want to talk to you about the World of Hyatt Credit Card through Chase Bank today. World of Hyatt is one of the best cards to have in your wallet for travelers, and here are some reasons why I added it to mine.

The Sign-Up Bonus

One of the reasons I signed up for this card is for the sign-up bonus – 30,000 points after spending $3,000 in the first three months of opening the card. You can also get an additional 30,000 points if you spend $15,000 in the first six months.

I expect us to spend less than $15,000 on this card, but if we do, more points for us!

This sign-up bonus is very consistent, and I have not seen an elevated bonus for this card in the past two years, which is good and bad. It’s good because you know what you will get, and you don’t need to be on the edge of your seat waiting for an elevated bonus to come around. The bad news is there are no elevated bonuses, so no extra points.

Lower Award Night Chart

When thinking about our travel, we want to maximize the number of nights we can cover with points, not necessarily maximizing the value of the points. The World of Hyatt has a reasonably low award chart, so we signed up for this card. They have relatively high point value redemption too.

We could book hotels that are 3,500 points per night, giving us 10 nights that we would not need to pay for! There are many different hotels available for that amount of points as well. Here is just a quick search that we found:

You can use this directory to help you find Category 1 hotels, and then when you find the hotel you want, click on it so it takes you to the hotel site. Pick a random travel time for that hotel, and then you should see a link that says “Points Calendar.” From there, you can find the off-peak times.

Long story short, lower award nights mean more nights for us, which is one reason we got the card!

The Anniversary Night

We also wanted to get this card because it gives you a free anniversary night that the card offer. You can book up to a Category 4 hotel and easily find a hotel that is $200+ per night to use your anniversary night on. So when we want to feel fancy one night, Hyatt has us covered! Take a look at some of the properties you could stay for free one night!

Hyatt is a Chase Partner

First, it is essential to note that this card does fall under the Chase 5/24 rule, and the World of Hyatt Credit Card is only available through Chase, and I filled my final Chase credit card spot with this card.

It’s also great that Chase is a partner with World of Hyatt because we can transfer our Chase Ultimate Rewards to World of Hyatt (you cannot move World of Hyatt points to Chase Ultimate Rewards) for more points to spend on Hyatt award nights.

Other Benefits

You also receive the Discoverist Status, which comes with benefits such as late checkout, preferred rooms, and a 10% points bonus on eligible purchases.

Additional perks include no foreign transaction fees, trip delay reimbursement, baggage delay insurance, lost luggage reimbursement, trip interruption and trip cancelation insurance, and auto rental collision damage waiver.

Annual Fee

This card comes with a $95 annual fee, which is quickly negated with the anniversary night certificate, assuming you book a hotel over $95 a night.

Overall I am excited to add this card to my wallet. The sign-up bonus creates a potential 10-night stay covered with points, an anniversary certificate, and other perks, making this card a win in my books!
